Ophthalmological exams

Examination of patients with senile macular degeneration and all ophthalmological conditions and diseases, as well as diagnosis of illnesses

The examination of patients with senile macular degeneration (macular degeneration) and the diagnosis of all ophthalmological conditions and diseases is a comprehensive ophthalmological examination focused on identifying and monitoring diseases that affect central vision, as well as overall eye health.

Vision acuity test: Your vision will be tested using standard letter charts to assess the level of central vision impairment. Pupil dilation: Eye drops will be administered to dilate the pupils, allowing the ophthalmologist a better view of the inside of the eye. Biomicroscopy (slit-lamp examination): The ophthalmologist will examine the front part of the eye and the retina, using specialized indirect lenses to inspect the back of the eye, especially the macula, to identify signs of degeneration, such as drusen (yellow deposits) or abnormal blood vessels. Optical coherence tomography (OCT): This advanced, non-invasive test creates detailed images of the retina, allowing precise assessment of its thickness and structure. OCT is particularly useful for detecting changes in the macula characteristic of senile macular degeneration. Fluorescein angiography: In some cases, this technique may be used, where a contrast dye is injected into a vein, allowing a detailed examination of the retinal blood vessels and the identification of leakage or new abnormal vessels. Comprehensive eye health examination: The exam will also cover other aspects of your eye health, including measuring intraocular pressure, examining the front part of the eye, and assessing the condition of the optic nerve.

The examination of patients with senile macular degeneration and the diagnosis of all ophthalmological conditions is painless and usually lasts about 60-90 minutes. Based on the results, the ophthalmologist will provide recommendations for further treatment or monitoring. This may include changes in diet, use of specialized supplements, laser treatments, eye injections, or surgical procedures. Regular check-ups are crucial for early detection and effective management of macular degeneration and other eye diseases, helping to preserve your vision.
